i just joined this tribe a week or so ago because i am interested in coming out to play some music and to enjoy what others have to share of their creativity.
i am curious what it is like as far as sign up for performing and if there is a surplus of people wanting to play/speak/whatever.
this night winds up early enough that i can still catch the train home and get a reasonable amount of sleep before i have to go to work.
if anyone can tell me what i need to do or when i should show up to sign in/up i would be thankful.
are there mics and some sort of a pa?i play acoustic guitar and if the venue is not too noisy i can go without a mic but it is often nicer to have one.
i was going to wait till november when i go on unemployment to come out but i am getting the urge and i'm willing to sacrifice a little sleep to do so.
thanks.
oh,also, about how long is an average time slot?
if i know i can plan what i want to play.
peace,
w

Re: hello people.
Sat, October 8, 2005 - 1:13 AMhey!
doors open @ 10, sign-up and be ready to go. we'll actually start around 10:15 and finish no later than 12:30.
typical crowd size is 20-30, though we've had much more and much less... it's hard to say. sometimes we run out of time before everyone can get on (and try to limit acts to 5 minutes maximum), and other times we're shutting down early.
acoustic or amplified, either way works. there are 3 mics plus outlets for amplified.
there is a piano.
be advised that the venue will be changing in the next few weeks, but we are understood to have at least 2 more weeks here. watch this space for more info as it becomes available. -

Re: hello people.
Sat, October 8, 2005 - 1:29 AMi'm cool with one song too.
i don't mean to presume.
actually if i only get to play one it will take more weeks for me to have to start repeating.
who knows,i may even get something new written by then.
i used to go to the red and black like, three years ago.
i think i will go back there too.
well,i hope to see you this monday.
peace,

Sat, October 8, 2005 - 1:31 AMits not like we keep a timer...
yeah, 2 songs is about right as long as we're not talkin about alice's restaurant here. 3 is fine too if its a slow night.
